About

Matthew David Jensen is a visual artist who works with everyday experiences of individuals—both their own and other’s—to highlight the often sweet-yet-bitter aspects that come with our everyday existence. Utilizing a multimedia approach of photography, performance, sculpture, and drawing they explore bodily interaction with the physical world and the conscious experience. 'What does it feel like?' is the question Matt keeps returning to and keeps trying to find new forms to express. They are interested in testing the boundaries of media through an interdisciplinary approach that combines multiple forms to explore themes of lived experience and sensation.
Matthew Jensen attended Willamette University in Oregon for their BA in Studio Art and is based on the West Coast of the USA. In 2018 Matt was an Inaugural Fellow for the Shuchat Arts Fellowship with Willamette University, culminating in the solo exhibition, Have A Heart, at the Willamette University Art Gallery. Matt’s recent work includes curating the show On Love & Rage in February 2019 at Salem Art Association and a group show, (Re:Phrase), March thru May at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art in Salem, Oregon.
